Who is Jesus?

Jesus Christ is the central figure of Christianity, believed to be the Son of God and the Savior of the world. His life, teachings, death, and resurrection form the foundation of the Christian faith. He is known as the Messiah, fulfilling Old Testament prophecies and bringing salvation to those who believe in Him.

Jesus’ birth was miraculous, as He was conceived by the Holy Spirit and born of the Virgin Mary. His arrival was announced by angels and recognized by wise men from the East, symbolizing His significance to all nations. He grew up in Nazareth, where He lived a humble life before beginning His ministry.

The Life of Jesus

Born in Bethlehem to the Virgin Mary, Jesus lived a life of humility and service. He performed miracles, healed the sick, and preached about love, forgiveness, and the Kingdom of God. His teachings were radical for the time, as He welcomed sinners, tax collectors, and outcasts, demonstrating that God’s grace is available to all.

Jesus’ public ministry lasted around three years, during which He traveled across Israel, spreading His message. He gathered disciples, teaching them deeply about God’s plan for humanity. He performed numerous miracles, including turning water into wine, feeding thousands with a few loaves and fish, healing the blind and lame, and even raising the dead.

Teachings of Jesus

• Love and Compassion: Jesus emphasized loving others as oneself, showing kindness to all, including enemies. He taught that love is the greatest commandment and that by loving others, we reflect the heart of God.
• Faith and Salvation: He taught that salvation comes through faith in Him and repentance of sins. Jesus declared, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me” (John 14:6).
• Forgiveness: Jesus taught the power of forgiveness and demonstrated it throughout His ministry. He forgave those who betrayed Him, healed those who sought mercy, and encouraged His followers to forgive others as they have been forgiven.
• Humility and Servanthood: Jesus washed His disciples’ feet, showing that true leadership is found in serving others. He instructed His followers to serve with humility rather than seek power or status.
• The Kingdom of God: Jesus spoke frequently about the Kingdom of God, describing it as both a present reality and a future hope. He used parables to explain its mysteries, inviting all who believe to enter and experience eternal life.

The Crucifixion and Resurrection

Jesus was crucified, fulfilling prophecy and serving as a sacrifice for humanity’s sins. His arrest, trial, and execution were unjust, but they were part of God’s redemptive plan. As He hung on the cross, He bore the sins of the world, crying out, “It is finished,” signifying the completion of His mission.

Three days later, He rose from the dead, proving His divine nature and victory over sin and death. His resurrection is the cornerstone of Christian faith, as it confirms that Jesus is the Son of God and that believers will also experience resurrection and eternal life.

After His resurrection, Jesus appeared to His disciples, offering them encouragement and commissioning them to spread His message to all nations. Forty days later, He ascended into heaven, promising to return one day to establish His eternal kingdom.
